Functional Features
Accurate monitoring and protection: This device is designed to monitor the speed of steam, gas, and hydraulic turbines, and will safely shut down the turbines once overspeed or over acceleration events are detected. It accurately monitors the speed and acceleration of the turbine rotor through active or passive magnetic sensors (MPU), and issues a closing command to the turbine’s trip valve or corresponding trip system.
Redundancy and reliability design: Three independent modules are used, and their trip outputs are either independent or voted on using a two out of three configuration based on the model used. This design ensures that the system can operate reliably even in the event of a single module failure, in compliance with standards such as API-670, API-612, API-611, and IEC 61508 (SIL-3), making it suitable for critical application scenarios.
