MVME2431 is a VME processor module manufactured by Motorola.

Hardware Configuration:
- Processor: Adopts a low-power, high-performance PowerPC 750 microprocessor. For example, MVME2431-1 and MVME2431-3 are equipped with a 350MHz MPC750 CPU.
- Memory: On-board 32MB to 512MB ECC SDRAM, as well as flash memory and 1MB back-end L2 cache.
- Bus and Interfaces: Features a processor/memory bus to PCI bus bridge, a VME interface, and a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) bus for on-board peripherals. It can be customized through two PCI Mezzanine Cards (PMC).

Functional Features:
- Storage – Related: There are two flash memory storage areas: Bank A and Bank B. Bank B consists of two 32-pin PLCC 8-bit devices, containing 1MB of 8-bit flash memory; Bank A is composed of four 16-bit devices, equipped with 16Mbit flash memory devices (8MB). Jumper header J8 can set the reset vector address. For the Bank A factory configuration, a jumper needs to be installed between J8 pins 1 and 2; for Bank B, a jumper is installed between J8 pins 2 and 3.
- System Control: The MVME240X series (including MVME2431) is factory-configured in automatic system controller mode, with a jumper installed on J9 pins 2 and 3. This means that when the module is powered on or reset, it will determine whether it is the system controller based on its position in the VMEbus system; if it is in slot 1 of the VME system, it will configure itself as the system controller. If you want the MVME240X to run as the system controller regardless of the situation, the jumper on J9 needs to be removed; if you want to prevent it from being the system controller under any circumstances, install the jumper on pins 1 and 2.

Installation Precautions: During installation, an ESD strap must first be tied to the wrist, with the other end connected to the chassis for grounding to prevent static electricity from damaging the module. Before installation, perform an operating system shutdown, turn off the AC or DC power, and unplug the AC power cord or DC power cord from the system. Then, remove the chassis or system cover as needed to access the VME module card mounting frame. At the same time, note that there are dangerous voltages in the equipment that may cause death, so extra care must be taken during handling, testing, and adjustment.
