MVME162-512 32-bit microprocessor
Hardware Features:
- Processor: Can be equipped with a 25MHz MC68LC040 enhanced 32-bit microprocessor with an 8KB cache and MMU (Memory Management Unit). It can also be optionally configured with a 25MHz MC68040 32-bit microprocessor, which features an 8KB cache, MMU, and FPU (Floating-Point Unit).
- Memory: Equipped with 1MB, 4MB, or 8MB of shared DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) with parity protection. There is also 512KB of SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) with a backup battery to ensure data is not lost after a power outage. In addition, it has 1MB of flash memory for on-board monitors/debuggers or user-installed firmware, as well as 8K x 8 NVRAM (Non-Volatile Random Access Memory) and a clock with a backup battery.
- Communication Ports: Provides two serial communication ports. The console port is an EIA-232-D DTE (Data Terminal Equipment), and the second port can be user-configured as EIA-232-D/EIA-422 (V.36) DTE/DCE (Data Circuit-Terminating Equipment).
- Others: Features an A32/D64 VMEbus master/slave interface with system controller functionality. It has four 16-bit or 32-bit IndustryPack® ports, each with one DMA (Direct Memory Access) channel. It also includes six 32-bit timers (four without VMEbus) and a watchdog timer. It can optionally be equipped with a SCSI bus interface with 32-bit local bus burst DMA or an Ethernet transceiver interface with 32-bit local bus DMA. It has a 32-pin PLCC EPROM socket, supports VMEbus four-level requesters, seven-level interrupters, and seven-level interrupt handlers, features remote RESET/ABORT/STATUS control functions, and comes with on-board debuggers and diagnostic firmware.

Installation Instructions: The MVME162-512 is a dual-height VME module. Before installation, ensure that the serial ports and all plug jumpers are configured as required. After turning off the power of related devices and unplugging the power cord, insert it into the corresponding slot of the VME chassis, ensuring proper connection with the VMEbus backplane connector. The module draws power from the VMEbus backplane connector. For cooling requirements, it operates within an inlet air temperature range of 0°C to 55°C (32°F to 131°F) and typically requires forced air cooling using a 100CFM axial fan.
