Microprocessor:
It can be equipped with a 32MHz MC68040 enhanced 32-bit microprocessor, with an 8KB cache, a Memory Management Unit (MMU), and a Floating-Point Unit (FPU). It can also optionally use a 25MHz MC68040 32-bit microprocessor or a 25MHz MC68LC040 enhanced 32-bit microprocessor, both of which are equipped with an 8KB cache and an MMU.

VME Bus Interface:
It has an A32/D64 VME bus master/slave interface and functions as a system controller. It supports the VMEbus D64 specification and high-performance Direct Memory Access (DMA) for local bus memory burst cycles, which can improve system performance.

Memory Configuration:
It has 4MB, 8MB, or 16MB of shared Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM). There is also 512KB of Static Random Access Memory (SRAM) with a backup battery to ensure that data is not lost after a power outage. In addition, there is 1MB of flash memory for the on-board monitor/debugger or user-installed firmware, as well as 8K x 8 Non-Volatile Random Access Memory (NVRAM) and a clock with a backup battery.

Communication Ports:
It provides two serial communication ports. The console port is an EIA-232-D Data Terminal Equipment (DTE), and the second port can be user-configured as EIA-232-D/EIA-422 (V.36) DTE/DCE. Some models may also have an optional SCSI bus interface (with 32-bit local bus burst DMA) or an Ethernet transceiver interface (with 32-bit local bus DMA).

IndustryPack Interface:
It has four 16-bit or 32-bit IndustryPack® ports, each with a DMA channel. It can connect to various IndustryPack modules to achieve various connections with “real-world” applications. Moreover, it can accommodate up to four single-width or two double-width IndustryPack modules, occupying only one VME slot.
