Provide critical turbine monitoring and protection functions, such as shaft voltage and current monitoring, trip system, synchronization, speed rate input, etc., to ensure that the turbine operates within safe parameters and prevent potential faults and shutdowns.
It is a turbine protection board (VPRO), which forms an independent emergency overspeed protection system with related terminal boards (TPRO and TREG). It consists of three redundant VPRO boards, located in a separate module from the turbine control system, and controls the trip solenoid valve through TREG. It also has an Ethernet connection for IONet communication with the control module.
The panel has three LED indicator lights, namely “fail”, “status”, and “run”.
There are two backplane connectors (P1 and P2) and four additional connectors. The board has multiple inductor coils/magnetic beads (L1 to L55), various diodes, capacitors, resistors, and over fifty integrated circuits, including Xilinx Spartan Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and several types of RAM and SRAM chips.
