• Hardware Features:
  • Processor: Typically equipped with a 25MHz MC68LC040 or an optional MC68040 microprocessor. The MC68040 comes with an 8KB cache, an MMU (Memory Management Unit), and an FPU (Floating-Point Unit), while the MC68LC040 features an 8KB cache and an MMU.
  • Memory: Has 1MB, 4MB, or 8MB of shared DRAM (Dynamic Random Access Memory) with parity protection. Additionally, there is 512KB of SRAM (Static Random Access Memory) with a backup battery to ensure data is not lost after a power outage. Moreover, it includes a JEDEC-standard 32-pin PLCC EPROM socket for installing EPROMs.

• Communication Ports: Provides two serial ports. The console port is EIA-232-D Data Terminal Equipment (DTE), and the second port can be configured as EIA-232-D/EIA-530 DTE/DCE (Data Circuit-Terminating Equipment). Some models may also have an optional SCSI bus interface (with 32-bit local bus burst DMA) or an Ethernet transceiver interface (with 32-bit local bus DMA).
• Other Features: Equipped with an A32/D64 VMEbus master/slave interface with system controller functionality. It has 6 timing counters and a watchdog timer, as well as 2 IndustryPack ports and 2 BIOS chips.

• Pre-Installation Preparation: Before installing the MVME162-220 module, ensure that the serial ports and all plug jumpers are configured as required.
• Installation Steps: First, turn off the power of all devices and unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet. Then, insert the module into the corresponding slot of the VME chassis, ensuring that the module is properly connected to the VMEbus backplane connectors P1 and P2. If not connected correctly, the module may not work properly.
