The VMIVME-5576 is an optical fiber reflective memory module. The following is the relevant manual content compiled based on public information:


  • Product Overview: The VMIVME-5576 connects multiple VME nodes through an optical fiber network, enabling high-speed and efficient data sharing and communication. It is particularly suitable for distributed computer systems that require high data throughput and low latency.
  • Hardware Features: It adopts a dual Eurocard size specification, and node numbers, base addresses, etc., can be set via jumpers. It is equipped with optical fiber interfaces, usually ST/PC interfaces, and the optical fiber type is 62.5/125µm multimode. The onboard memory can be configured as 256KB to 1MB of SRAM, and 512-byte or 4KB FIFO buffers are also optional.

 

 

  • Functional Characteristics:
    • High-Speed Data Transmission: Supports a serial rate of up to 170Mbaud, with a data transmission rate of 6.2Mbyte/s without redundant transmission and 3.2Mbyte/s with redundant transmission.
    • Reflective Memory: Data written to the memory of one node is automatically copied to the memory of all nodes on the network, realizing data sharing.
    • Multi-Node Connection: It can connect up to 256 nodes, and the maximum distance between nodes can reach 2000 meters.
    • Interrupt Function: Any node can generate interrupts in other nodes or all nodes through a command, which is used for synchronizing system processes or tracking data. Interrupts are divided into three levels, which can be defined by users.
    • Memory Access: Supports A24, A32 address modes, and D8, D16, D32 data transmission formats.

 

 

  • Operation and Configuration: Each node in the system has a unique identification number between 0 and 255, which is determined by placing jumpers on the circuit board. Software can read the node number by accessing the onboard register. If the interrupt function is used, the vector and interrupt level must be written to the onboard register and the interrupt must be set. Otherwise, the VMIVME-5576 does not require initialization.
  • Fault Detection and Maintenance: It has an error detection function, and the redundant transmission mode can suppress errors. In daily maintenance, it is necessary to check whether the optical fiber connection is normal, ensure good heat dissipation of the module, and avoid using it in harsh environments such as high temperature and high humidity.
